There are several large and smaller general shops around the village centre, providing for all basic needs, and there is a small open market each Friday.  Dalaman International Airport is about 55km away, 45mins to an hour from Uzumlu along the excellent D400 highway. The mini-bus (dolmuş) stop in Uzumlu is about 12 -15 minutes gentle walk from the villa. The buses provide a frequent service to downtown Fethiye.

It should be noted that in accordance with a recent change in Turkish legislation, all property sales have to be transacted in Turkish Lira (TL).  Property prices are therefore given in TL.  Since the exchange rate fluctuates daily, Sterling and Euro equivalents which are provided are indicative only, and will be confirmed at time of sale.  Exchange rates can be monitored at www.xe.com.  

The village of Uzumlu lies about 20 km from Fethiye. The name "Uzumlu" means "Grape" - an excellent local wine is produced in the village, and succulent grapes adorn the terraces of houses until late autumn. It is a real paradise with stunning green meadows, valleys and picturesque mountains, covered with pine forests.  Uzumlu is ideal for people who do not like very hot summer months, because in this mountain village the temperature is several degrees lower than in Fethiye.

Virgin nature and a traditional way of life are harmoniously combined with the charms of technological progress. In this village there are various cafes, restaurants, bars and a wine-house, as well as numerous social facilities and amenities. There is a regular minibus (dolmuş) service from the village to the local major town, Fethiye. 

In recent years, Europeans have come to appreciate all the delights of Uzumlu. Realising that an excellent villa with its own piece of land can be bought here at a reasonable price, expatriates now form a significant part of the community, and there are now compounds and mini-villages with flowering gardens, private pools and spacious terraces in the valleys and on the mountain slopes of Uzumlu.
